Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers Beat Yale

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers were triumphant over Yale 8-3 on Friday.

Yale got on the board in the top of the first inning after Tyler Debbs doubled to center field, and Derek Fowler walked, each scoring one run.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Jax Johnston walked, Alando Mendoza walked, Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers scored on a wild pitch, Yale committed an error, Ethan Torrez walked, and Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers scored on a wild pitch, each scoring one run.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers added one run in the second. Yale committed an error, making the score 7-2.

Johnston earned the win for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. The right-handed pitcher gave up two hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking six. Debbs took the loss for Yale. The pitcher went one-third of an inning, allowing four runs (three earned) on one hit, striking out one and walking three.

Mendoza led Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers with one run batted in. The right fielder went 1-for-1 on the day. Xander Marshall went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers in hits. Mendoza led Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers turned one double play in the game.

Debbs and Noah O’Boyle each collected one hit for Yale. Debbs led Yale with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Fowler paced Yale with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying six walks for the game.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers will travel to Algonac for their next game on Tuesday.
