Jax Johnston’s Big Day Propels Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers Past Glenn

Jax Johnston drove in four runs on one hit to lead Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers past Glenn 17-3 on Thursday. Johnston hit an inside the park home run in the fourth inning, scoring three runs, and walked in the third inning, scoring one.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Alando Mendoza doubled to left field, and Glenn committed an error, each scoring one run.

A walk by Johnston, a single by Shane Slanec, and a double by Caden Tang helped Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers extend their early lead in the third.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers added four more runs in the top of the fourth inning on three hits. Johnston hit an inside the park home run, scoring three runs, and a wild pitch scored one run.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers scored five runs on three hits in the top of the seventh inning. An error scored one run, a wild pitch scored one run, an error scored one run, Wyatt Frey singled, scoring one run, and Tang singled, scoring one run.

Mendoza earned the win for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. The hurler allowed four hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out nine and walking three. #28 took the loss for Glenn. The starting pitcher went two and one-third innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on three hits, striking out four and walking three. Xander Marshall collected the save.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers accumulated 12 hits in the game. Tang led Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers with five runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. The left-handed hitter went 3-for-5 on the day. Tang and Braylon Davis each collected three hits for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. Frey collected two hits for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers in five at bats. Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game.
