Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers Beat Clio Varsity Mustangs

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers were victorious against Clio Varsity Mustangs 4-2 on Saturday.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers opened the scoring in the bottom of the third thanks to two doubles. Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers first got on the board when Xander Marshall doubled, scoring one run.

Clio Varsity Mustangs tied the game up in the top of the fourth thanks to two singles. Clio Varsity Mustangs tied the game at two on a single by Brady Coombe.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Clio Varsity Mustangs committed an error, and Alando Mendoza singled to right field, each scoring one run.

Wyatt Frey earned the win for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. The pitcher surrendered six hits and two runs over six innings, striking out five and walking one. Chris Graham took the loss for Clio Varsity Mustangs. The starting pitcher went three innings, surrendering two runs on four hits, striking out three and walking none.

Mendoza provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day.

Coombe and Gage Benner each drove in one run for Clio Varsity Mustangs. Nick Collins went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Clio Varsity Mustangs in hits.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers play at home on Tuesday against North Branch in their next game.
