Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers Come Up Short Against Almont

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers fell to Almont 6-3 on Tuesday.
Almont got on the board in the first inning after Tyler Brown grounded out, scoring one run.
A single by Braylon Davis gave Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third.
, which helped Almont tie the game at two in the bottom of the fourth.
Almont took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Brock Murphy singled, scoring one run, to give Almont the advantage, 3-2.
Xander Marshall scored after tagging up, which helped Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers tie the game at three in the top of the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth, Almont broke up the tie when Jason Lane was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Then a single by Luke Winkler followed to extend the lead to 6-3.
Marshall took the loss for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, surrendering five runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking two. Alando Mendoza opened the game for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. The right-handed pitcher allowed zero hits and one run (zero earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking four. Brown led things off on the hill for Almont. The hurler allowed seven hits and three runs over six innings, striking out two and walking two.
Davis led Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers with two runs batted in. The center fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Mendoza led Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers with two hits in three at bats.
Winkler provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Almont with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Brown, Colin Campbell, Blake Lane, Winkler, Murphy, Tim Miller, and Colten Karbel each collected one hit for Almont. Lane led Almont with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing six walks for the game. Almont were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Campbell made the most plays with three.
