Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers Defeats Marlette Varsity Red Raiders in High-Scoring Game, 8-7

Both pitching staffs had their hands full on Thursday in a high-scoring affair where Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers bested Marlette Varsity Red Raiders, 8-7.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers took an early lead in the second inning when Elara Rankin singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

In the top of the third inning, Marlette Varsity Red Raiders tied things up at four.  Emily Newland singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning.  In the fourth an error scored one run for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers and Shaylee Kading singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Rankin was credited with the victory for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. The pitcher went six innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out seven.

Autumn Klatzke started the game for Marlette Varsity Red Raiders. The hurler surrendered six runs on three hits over three innings, striking out two.  Dalaney Gage threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Ella McMillian started the game for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. The righthander surrendered three runs on two hits over one inning, striking out two and walking one

Rankin, McMillian, Addison McMillian, Riley Robertson, Kading, Grace Stillson, and Isabella Pesina all had one hit to lead Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers.  Rankin led Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 11 stolen bases.

Marlette Varsity Red Raiders totaled six hits in the game.  Newland and Gage all collected multiple hits for Marlette Varsity Red Raiders.  Newland led Marlette Varsity Red Raiders with three hits in four at bats.
