In Walk-Off, Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers Lose To Algonac Varsity Muskrats

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers fell to Algonac Varsity Muskrats 5-4 on Thursday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the fifth when Lainie Meleski singled, scoring one run.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers were the first to get on the board in the first when Anastasia Pesina homered to center field, scoring three runs.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers scored one run in the top of the third on a solo home run to center field by Ella McMillan.

Algonac Varsity Muskrats captured the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the fifth after Morgan Reams singled up the middle, and Meleski singled to left field, each scoring one run.

Reams earned the win for Algonac Varsity Muskrats. The starter surrendered five hits and four runs (three earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking three. McMillan took the loss for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. The right-handed pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out two and walking four.

McMillan and Pesina were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers while hitting back-to-back. Pesina drove the middle of the lineup, leading Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers turned one double play in the game.

Meleski, the number eight hitter for Algonac Varsity Muskrats, led the way with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-2 on the day. Reams went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Algonac Varsity Muskrats in hits. Algonac Varsity Muskrats turned one double play in the game.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers play at home on Monday against Peck in their next game.
