Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers With Tough Game Against Armada Varsity Tigers

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers had trouble keeping up with Armada Varsity Tigers in a 10-0 loss on Tuesday.

Armada Varsity Tigers got on the board in the top of the first inning after Grace Girvin singled to right field, Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers committed an error, and Andrea Cox singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Armada Varsity Tigers extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Helena Fettue and Lily Piconke.

An error extended the Armada Varsity Tigers lead to 7-0 in the top of the third inning.

Armada Varsity Tigers scored one run in the top of the fourth on a solo home run to left field by Piconke.

Girvin earned the win for Armada Varsity Tigers. The starter surrendered one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out three and walking none. Valarie Bird pitched three innings in relief for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. The hurler surrendered seven hits and five runs (three earned) while, striking out one and walking none. Ella McMillan took the loss for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. The starting pitcher went two innings, surrendering five runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out three and walking one.

Kaelyn Platko led Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers with one hit in two at bats.

Armada Varsity Tigers piled up 12 hits in the game. Piconke went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Cox went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Armada Varsity Tigers in hits. Taylor Capozzo collected two hits for Armada Varsity Tigers in three at bats.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers will travel to Armada for their next game on Tuesday.
