Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers Don't Quit, Battle Back To Defeat Michigan Lutheran Seminary

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers and Michigan Lutheran Seminary played a taut affair on Thursday, but Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers eventually prevailed 13-10. The game was tied at 10 in the bottom of the sixth when Lovee Yearkey doubled, scoring two runs.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers collected 10 hits and Michigan Lutheran Seminary 11 in the high-scoring affair.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary got on the board in the first inning after A Coffey doubled, scoring one run.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers made the score 3-1 in the bottom of the first after K Gardner induced Kaelyn Platko to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Yearkey singled, scoring two runs.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary tied the game in the top of the second thanks to a ground out by B Delong, and a passed ball.

In the bottom of the second, Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers broke up the tie when an error scored two runs. Then a ground out by Anastasia Pesina followed to extend the lead to 6-3.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary scored two runs in the top of the third on a home run to center field by Coffey on an 0-2 count.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary scored on a passed ball, which helped Michigan Lutheran Seminary tie the game at six in the top of the fourth.

An error gave Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers the lead, 8-6, in the bottom of the fourth.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary took the lead in the top of the sixth inning after Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers committed an error, Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers committed an error, Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers committed an error, and L Retberg grounded out, each scoring one run.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers collected 10 hits in the game. Yearkey, Rozlynn Cayce, Tori Ganley, and Leah Tiechow each collected two hits for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. Yearkey went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Pesina paced Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up five walks for the game.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary amassed 11 hits in the game. Coffey provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Michigan Lutheran Seminary with four runs batted in. The infielder went 3-for-4 on the day. A Whitmer, Gardner, and C Alcorn each collected multiple hits for Michigan Lutheran Seminary. Alcorn stole three bases. Michigan Lutheran Seminary ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game.
