Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers Defeat Port Huron Varsity Red Hawks Behind Strong Performance From Ella McMillan

Ella McMillan was dominant in the circle, as the hurler rang up 14 strikeouts in Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers's 4-2 victory over Port Huron Varsity Red Hawks on Friday. McMillan gave up four hits and two runs over nine innings while walking one.
Port Huron Varsity Red Hawks opened the scoring in the first after Eliana Arnold grounded out, scoring one run.
Anastasia Pesina singled to center field, which helped Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers tie the game at one in the top of the third.
A double by Lovee Yearkey gave Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers the lead, 2-1, in the top of the sixth.
Lauren Thomas singled down the left field line, which helped Port Huron Varsity Red Hawks tie the game at two in the bottom of the sixth.
In the top of the ninth, Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers broke up the tie when Leah Tiechow singled, scoring one run. Then a single by Samantha Tunich followed to extend the lead to 4-2.
Keila Walker began the game for Port Huron Varsity Red Hawks. The right-handed pitcher allowed 10 hits and four runs (three earned) over nine innings, striking out eight and walking none.
Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers collected 10 hits in the game. Rozlynn Cayce went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers in hits.
