Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers With Tough Game Against Yale Varsity Bulldogs

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers couldn't keep up with Yale Varsity Bulldogs and fell 13-7 on Thursday.

Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers opened the scoring in the first after Rozlynn Cayce singled, scoring one run.

Yale Varsity Bulldogs took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers committed an error, Grace Sutherland (2028) grounded out, and Evie Jahn (2025) singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.

Yale Varsity Bulldogs added one run in the second after Macie McCormick (2027) singled to center field.

Yale Varsity Bulldogs added two runs in the third. Danica McGranahan (2025) singled to left field on the sixth pitch of the at-bat, making the score 6-3.

Yale Varsity Bulldogs scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. McGranahan (2025) singled, scoring one run, Mackenzie Aguinaga (2026) singled, scoring two runs, Reese Klei (2025) drew a walk, scoring one run, and Elizabeth Ford (2026) singled, scoring two runs.

Aguinaga (2026) earned the win for Yale Varsity Bulldogs. The pitcher allowed two hits and two runs (one earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one. Ella McMillan took the loss for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. The starting pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing 12 runs (zero earned) on seven hits, striking out nine and walking three.

Anastasia Pesina, Cayce, and Leah Tiechow each collected two hits for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers. Pesina and Cayce each drove in two runs for Croswell-Lexington Varsity Pioneers.

McGranahan (2025), the number nine hitter for Yale Varsity Bulldogs, led the way with three runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-4 on the day. McCormick (2027) and McGranahan (2025) each collected two hits for Yale Varsity Bulldogs. Yale Varsity Bulldogs turned one double play in the game.
